Home Office Makeover Week 4

Week three has come and gone AT LOONGG LASST. It always looks worse before it looks better and let me tell you.. It is finally LOOKING BETTER!

All of the efforts from the last week are paying off and I officially have a useable office space! There’s still so many of the little details to go but your girl has a desk! So-long folding table – see you never! (well, see you at the occasional potluck or craft night when your presence is actually appreciated)

Although this space started off relatively dark and dated, the book cases have been a welcome feature for happily hiding my ginormous printer (out of sight is best for obnoxious tech, always) and for housing my 10,000 notebooks, client docs, and bookkeeping necessities.

The dark coloured wood, while beautiful, felt in need of a refresh.

In order to modernize and feminize it while maintaining that classic look, I opted to leave the insides of the bookcases dark and only paint out the trim surrounding the front edges as well as all of the door the drawer fronts. I want this baby to last and went with Fusion Mineral Paint in the colour ____ to complete this look.

I am still a long ways from finished:

  1. I plan on adding an additional wood box to the top of this cabinet to give it more of a built in feel and make the room appear taller
  2. I still need to organize all of the things so that this cabinet doesn’t just become a cluttered mess
  3. I need to replace the light fixture and the outlets and switch for a prettier and brighter option (fingers and toes crossed it comes in on time!)
  4. Curtains, wall hooks art, furniture and all of the pretty little details still need to be added to fully finish off the space.

But, I am super proud of how far we have come!

See you next week where I attempt to paint a chair and build a cabinet topper!
