Home Office Makeover Week Three – ORC

Okay, okay! I know that it is hard to believe, but we are already in Week Three of the One Room Challenge!

I have been so inspired by all of the projects that I have seen so far and I am still so excited *although also incredibly exhausted* to be taking part!

As a firm believer in work environments being functional, beautiful, and calming, I’m going to breathe a huge sigh of relief when I can finally put away the folding table for good and have a space that I can be proud of and more importantly, a space that allows me to GET SH*T DONE!

The green and cream colours that originally graced the walls of this place weren’t terrible, but they didn’t provide me with the calming cool tones that I was looking for for the space.

After peeling back the wallpaper border, which honestly isn’t so hard to do as long as you have a spray bottle in hand, I settled on a gorgeous dusty blue.

Steps for wallpaper removal:

  1. Peel off the top layer,
  2. Spray the entire strip to soaking
  3. Let it sit
  4. Spray again, and
  5. Peel that baby back!

I would love to share the exact name of the colour with you, and I have done my best to colour match using the Nix Colour Sensor (not an ad, just my favourite design consultation tool) but this colour was actually the result of my mom pouring a bunch of leftover paint together so that it didn’t go to waste. Who would have thought a kings cup of colour kicking around in my moms basement would be the absolute PERFECT shade for the space.

The closest matches are as follows:

In an effort to make the space look truly effortless, I decided to wash the whole room with it including the doors and trim for a unified and modern look.

There’s no great shot of things this week because we are in the “get worse before it gets better” phase and things are a cluttered mess but here is a little corner of cuteness, AND the actual reality of the space on the OTHER side of the camera that shows the “organized chaos” of being 3 weeks into a DIY project. If the time span of these projects aren’t reason enough to hire it out, I don’t know what is!

And that’s it for this girl (until next week). Don’t forget to check out the rest of the competitors here: One Room Challenge Weekly Updates to follow along with some incredible projects.

Until next time – Angela
